Strata I and Strata II (diptych)

Strata I and Strata II are landscapes built in layers. Along the lower edge, shrubs and flowers give way to tree trunks and then to canopies where light filters through the foliage. Above the trees, the composition transitions into the golden glow of sunrise, clouds, and sky.

The paired paintings reveal the changing elements of the landscape from earth to atmosphere, each layer contributing to the movement and depth of the scene.

Presented together, Strata I and Strata II create a strong vertical arrangement and would also be well placed on either side of a doorway.
