- Charles H. Reinike III -
Watercolor
8 ¼" × 5 ½ "(uf) / 18¾" × 22" (fr)
$1,500 (framed)
This watercolor is the concept for Reinike's oil painting Birth of a Nation. The curved colonnade at Mount Vernon opens toward the Potomac, where a lone vessel begins its journey beyond the arches. Washington’s presence is subtly embedded within the architecture, just as it is in the larger oil painting, offering a symbol of the nation’s beginnings.
The watercolor study is framed with a white archival mat and backing.
