Three arched windows rise in a vertical column, each opening onto a serene blue sky that feels almost impossibly distant from the textured surface surrounding them. The field of the painting is a warm brown‑gold, worked to resemble carved or weathered wood, its surface covered in faint glyphs and markings that suggest an ancient script—something spoken long before writing was formalized. These inscriptions give the painting its sense of mystery, as though the canvas itself is trying to communicate in a language just beyond comprehension.
The lowest window is flanked by two golden lions, upright and symmetrical, their forms echoing heraldic guardians. They lend the piece a ceremonial gravity, as if the window they protect is a threshold into meaning. The interplay between the carved “tongues” of text and the open sky creates a tension between the earthly and the transcendent, the known and the unknowable.
