Oil on Canvas with Wooden Cornice
32" X 48" (34" X 50" with cornice)
$3,200
This painting has a wooden cornice at the top of the canvas that extends the architectural design of the piece.
In the area between the three arches is a soft golden glow. Within that glow is a faint keyhole. It is barely perceptible. At the base of the arches is a trefoil key. Reinike uses the arch as a passage from the physical world to a more spiritual space and the trefoil key gives a hint of his intention.
Along the lower edge of the canvas, a horizontal band repeats a series of key designs — a visual catalog of thresholds and the many ways one might pass through them. The repetition reinforces the idea that unlocking is not a single act but a theme, a pattern, a way of moving through life.
