Circus

This Henry Callahan Abstract Expressionist painting, titled Circus, displays a textured composition defined by a grid-like pattern. Callahan's signature layering of paint and contrasting dark and light tones contribute to the artwork's impact, especially the vibrant red, orange, and yellow horizontal bands against the muted background. A suggestion of a face or figure, perhaps a character in makeup and costume, reveals itself among the abstract forms and grid structure.
